"Legal" Doom3 metainstaller idea

A pity id hat some legal objections to your installer :( - but shouldn't it be legal when it asks for the locally downloaded .run file and then extracts the data from there, thus it's just an external helper and not a repackaging of it, which seems clean to me.

Maybe you could build a new installer, now that build 1286 with ALSA support is out.
Same principle would be nice for the coming add-on "Resurrection of Evil".

IANAL though, my 2 cents :) - good work nonetheless!

ehhh, indeed! cool 8)

Yet their wiki (http://zerowing.idsoftware.com/linux/doom) still states:
We need to insist here again that this [i.e. repackaging id software releases for Linux] is not legal.
And a quick look at the installer shows that you are repackaging (not that I would object to that) the binaries and the pk4s. Soooo you made peace with id quietly or what :) - if that is under an NDA feel free not to answer/delete this post/thread.
