quake 1 + quake 2 mission packs ?

Postby slacktom » Sun Sep 04, 2005 13:37

Hello!

I have tried to install both mission packs för quake 2 , but they only seem to work
half-way. Have anyone got them to work properly?
I have used liflg:s installer to install quake2, and then I put Data/all from the ground zero cd in a directory called rogue.
The game starts up as it should but i get error messages that certain things couldnt be "spawned", and I cant use elevators which destroys the whole game.

How about making an installer for quake2 mission packs ? It would be great

Sorry to dig up this old post, but I'm working on just this problem. I bought the Quake 4 Special Edition DVD which comes with Quake 2 and both Mission Packs. I tried copying the files as you did, and had the same problem. It turns out that the problem is a missing gamei386.so library, which is needed in each mod directory for the it to work correctly.

Can someone who owns original The Reckoning and/or Ground Zero expansion CDs post a list of all the files and directories on the disks. Then I can make an updated installer that works for them as well as the Quake 4 DVD.

I've got the ground zero cd at home. i'll take a look at it tonite. If you give me an e-mail addres, I can send you a `tree` output from the ground zero cd, which should get you what you need.

I'm still intermittently working on this, but have been hampered by not having access to the necessary disks.

So we can't expect anything in near future? :/
Well, at least The Reckoning almost seems to work (just a few missing enemies)
It should suffice having the gamei386.so for each mod. I tried using the ones with the iD-installer, but they segfault. Wrong version.

Mayhem, did the guy from post #3025 send you a mail with the content of the cd like he promised?

kratz00: yes, he sent me a listing, and another helpful soul sent me a listing of the other CD a month or so ago. I have all the info I need... just no ready access to disks or an x86 PC :(

HAARP: yes, the game runs but is missing certain enemies/elevators/doors etc. without the gamei386.so files. I have compiled game binaries and .so files, will try to make them available so you can get playing.

has anyone managed to get the missionpacks working? i have the same problem -- [whatever] doesn't have a spawn function errors, which make the game unplayable. i tried softlinking gamei386 from baseq3 to the xatrix and rogue folders but that did nothing.

I hate linux cause it dont live up to its ease of use and superior versatility and functionality and stability. its slow installing, slow running, and really slow getting games working. I cant mount CD-rom drive in mandriva free spring 2008.1 I am writing this on my winXPpro and it works I played rouge n xatrix today. fu unix :P
