localization in loki_setup

Post by SuperPat » Tue Jul 11, 2006 1:21

Hello,

I have some "bug" with the loki setup tools:
I want an multi-language installer but it seem the localization don't work with your scripts (tested with nexuiz)
I work under Mandriva 2006 in french.

Finaly, I prefer used the GTK2 Google Picassa installer for my application:
This version localize my installer but:
- When a (french) string use accentuated characters (ie: "é", "è", "à", "ç", "ù", the chaine in truncated. For example the chain: "Félicitation" (when the install is a succes) it will apper only "F".
I have partially solved the problem by replacing all accentuated characters using a hexadecimal editor.

- An other problem with all the installer:
In the XML file, if I use accentuated characters, the installer won't start and say that it doesn't find the good executable for my platform ("tested with glibc 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2").

In conclusion, the localization in the loki_setup is really not good...

first:
we are not responsible for the loki_setup tools, we are just "users" like you :)
if you have problems look here for help:

http://icculus.org/loki_setup/ (last line)

second:
you could try to use unicode codes in the xml file for example:

à à
á á

I just wanted to inform you that, unfortunately, the localization of your games install don't work. Maybe a recompilation of the latest CVS will fix it for you next games install. (Preferably, compile the GTK2 version)

The problem is not in the xml: if you take the same xml and replace it in the loki-gtk2 installer (for example google picasa), the localization work fine.

In this case, why there are the translation files in all your
pakages, remove them since they are not used.
