Is there any chance to see new installer for SiN and Shogo?

Talk about everything.

Readme:
- gllbc-2.1 (yes, is written like this on the boxed version, but still wrong)
- Harddisk, Support <-- lowercase

Rest:
- do not compile the lua-scripts (everyone should be able to improve the installers)
- use the correct # of bytes
- add some credits for the compat libs (- Loki-Compat-Libs are from http://www.swanson.ukfsn.org/loki/)
- have no sound (Could not mmap sound device, deleting loki-compat does not help, will look into)
- crashes when changing settings in menu (deleting loki-compat helps, will look into)
- does not resett the desktop-resolution to 1920x1200 (will look into)

@sin:

- gilbc-2.1 <-- glibc-2.1
- Notes: usually we have a empty line between the points

@compiled scripts:
I would like to get an answer: Why compiled? There is no reason for this. It will bite us and others in the future.

Shogo demo installs and runs just great in both OpenGL nad Software versions, no problems whatsover. Great!

Sin demo installs fine, but segfaults, with or without linux32 on my F12 x86_64.

I tried replacing the original ld-225 ld-linux.so.2 points to with original 32bit lib from Fedora, then it complained even more, didn't have time to mess around with it more. But I tried to run it just without any Loki libs, segfaults too.

All right, I have finally had a chance to try them out.

Here are my computers specifications:
Operating System: Fedora 12 Linux (32 bit)
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3650
Drivers: xorg-x11-drv-ati, Mesa 3D 7.7
Memory: 4 Gigabytes
Processor: AMD Sempron CPU 2.7 Ghz
Hard drives: 71.6 GB and 35 GB

Shogo
Runs without sound, unless I use ALSA-OSS emulation. This unfortunately causes some lag in the sounds and game-play. Keep in mind I have a fully working copy of Shogo installed on my computer which works perfectly, except for no music. The demo installer also provides the game with no music. I know for a fact the Windows demo does have music.

[hamish@griffindor shogo-demo]$ ./shogo
SND_Init: Error No available audio device
IRQ's not enabled, falling back to busy waits: 2 0
[hamish@griffindor shogo-demo]$

SiN
Works absolutely perfectly, which it never did before, except for the fact I do not have any sounds. Other than that it runs wonderfully,k even better than when I played it from SuperGamer. Not having sound does get a bit old though. I tried ALSA-OSS emulation, but it gives me an error.

------- sound initialization -------
Could not open sound device
CD Audio Initialized
Mouse support enabled

[hamish@griffindor sin-demo]$ aoss ./sin-demo
Running WITH lokicompat libs!
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dynamic-link.h: 62: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion `! "bad dynamic tag"' failed!
[hamish@griffindor sin-demo]$

Overall, very good work so far. There is also one slight fault in the Shogo LIFLG read-me where it refers to the game as "SiN". At least that should not be difficult to fix.

I will be upgrading to Fedora 13 tomorrow, I will inform you if anything runs different on the new install.

About the Shogo sound lag. I don't have any lags on my system. I'm also on F12, but 64bit. You can try uninstalling alsa-plugins-pulseaudio, which will basically make ALSA (and OSS) apps avoid PA completely, aka application has direct access to it instead of the PA route, leaving apps that use PA natively to peacefully use it. I always do that, PA and ALSA still don't like each other too much.

Thanks to everyone for testing!

@Hamish
would be nice to know what soundcard do you have and wich driver (alsa-project or kernel-driver etc.) do you use
and how you (sound) configuration looks like.

thanks.ron

First off, the sound lag in Shogo is due to the fact that I have to run it under ALSA OSS emulation, it has nothing to do with PulseAudio. PulseAudio has always served me well in the past, and I am frankly getting a little tired of everyone blaming it for everything.

As for my soundcard, I have absolutely no idea, it is the one which came with my motherboard. I am also unsure of which driver I am using, perhaps you can tell me how to find out?

Keep mind, I just upgraded to Fedora 13 yesterday, so my system might be slightly different from when I was running 12. I will give you my experiences with the installers on the new install when I find the time.
