doom3

Post by adrian » Sat Jun 11, 2005 19:44

Hi guys,

When I try to install the doom3 .run file, it asks me to mount the "DOOM III CD".
I didn't find something like this... what should I do?
I read the FAQ and exported my CD path, and this is where I got stuck.
Could you please help?

TIA,
Adrian

d3 has 3cd's

installation starts with cd1

export SETUP_CDROM=/your/mountpoint
change this so it fits for you
and then run the installer
sh doom3_1.3.1302-multilanguage.run

It looks like the script doesn't find the mount point:

Code: Select all

Please mount DOOM III Disc One.

If I click "try" this request just comes again in no time.

Code: Select all

This is all I get in the shell:
./doom3_1.3.1302-multilanguage.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing DOOM III 1.3.1302-multilanguage Installer.........................................................................................

Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate loadable module in module_path: "liblighthouseblue.so",

Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate loadable module in module_path: "liblighthouseblue.so",

I tried this as user and as root, same problem. I even started the script from within the mount point directory, no change. Which is besides /mnt/cdrom. I don't think thats so unusual, is it?

But there's another strange problem: I'm not able to mount the cd as user, only as root. Other cds are mounted automatically by gnome. Maybe some stupid kind of copy-protection?

Hope you got an idea.

Doom3 DVD install

Post by dyingmuppet » Sat Dec 23, 2006 5:10

Hey Guys I Installed Doom3 with the 1.3 multilanguage installer with the Doom3 DVD
First he didn't found the cd but with the "export SETUP_CDROM=/mnt/dvd" code it did work without a problem. :D
I'm running Zenwalk 4.0 on my AMD64 Athlon 2800+ and NVIDIA Geforce 7300GT 256MB and my opinion is that it runs smoother on linux than on windowz..

1. do you have the cd or dvd version?
2. there is no copy protection
3. did you read the faq's and tried the export SETUP_CDROM trick?
4. post a 'ls -R' of your mounted cds/dvd
