Can not RUN Racer on SUSE 9.3 Pro 64bit

Post by Guest » Tue Oct 25, 2005 1:55

I am running Suse 9.3 Pro 64bit on an AMD 64 3200+. I have also correctly installed the Nvidia 7676 64bit drivers for my 5900XT with 32-bit libs support.

I have succesfully installed racer using:

Code: Select all

>linux32 racer_0.5.2beta8.9-english.run
However, when trying to run racer I get the folllowing message:

Code: Select all

~/racer>./racer
bash: ./racer: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied
Then, running the command after switching to a 32bit shell gives a different error:

Code: Select all

~/racer>linux32 /bin/bash
~/racer>./racer
racer: line 62: ./racer.bin: Permission denied
I have installed all 32-bit compatibility libraries available for my distro to no avail. A list of the (hopefully) relevant 32-bit libraries follows:

Code: Select all

~/racer> rpm -qa |grep 32bit
baselibs-32bit-9.3-7
compat-32bit-9.3-7
libcap-32bit-9.3-7
libxml2-32bit-9.3-7
binutils-32bit-9.3-7
glib-32bit-9.3-7
libjpeg-32bit-9.3-7
esound-32bit-9.3-7
glibc-locale-32bit-9.3-7.1
libpng-32bit-9.3-7
imlib-32bit-9.3-7
xorg-x11-libs-32bit-9.3-7.2
alsa-32bit-9.3-7.1
glibc-devel-32bit-9.3-7.1
gconf2-32bit-9.3-7
giflib-devel-32bit-9.3-7
libglade2-32bit-9.3-7
giflib-32bit-9.3-7
xorg-x11-Mesa-32bit-9.3-7
gtk2-32bit-9.3-7
glib2-32bit-9.3-7
liblcms-32bit-9.3-7
freeglut-32bit-9.3-7
glib-devel-32bit-9.3-7
glibc-32bit-9.3-7.2
Also, libstdc++-3.3.5-5 is installed.

The question is how do I run racer?

whats the output of:

ls -l ./racer.bin

is your partiton mounted noexec?

I also think it is a problem with noexec since suse by default mounts the partitions as user, which means noexec.

Check your fstab for the partition on which you have racer installed and add exec after user.

For example, if racer is installed on /mnt/games and the relevant line in fstab is:

Code: Select all

/dev/sda3 /mnt/games ext3 noatime,user,acl 1 2
Change it to:

Code: Select all

/dev/sda3 /mnt/games ext3 noatime,user,acl,exec 1 2
And your problem should be solved.
