Doom 3 Problems

Hi,

I've installed Doom 3 under Ubuntu 5.10, but when I start the game it just plays the sound of the video and after pressing [ESC] only the planet zooms in the screen but there is no GUI to see... And I can't do anything.
After that I can just quit the game by changing to a virtual console and kill the process. Afterwards the mouse is not working any more in the GUI...

I also had sound problems, but I solved them by changing the sound to oss in the config file.

I've installed the latest ATI drivers.

System:

Radeon 9000 Mobility (Yes not very good, but the game runs under windows... sure with worst graphic settings)
AMD Athlon XP 2800+

Any ideas so far?

There are also problems with MOHAA and RTCW (yes I have got the installer)

There are no problems with UT (normal and GOTY!) and UT2004 (Didn't try out 2003 but I think there wouldn't be any problem too)!

The funny thing:

RTCW - Starts, but no sound (error message with /dev/dsp, although I've killed esd and fuser /dev/dsp shows nothing). I can just watch the intro movies, no matter if I escape them or let them run, the game hangs after that.

MOHAA - Starts, sound! But I don't see anything, like in Doom 3, randomly (is this word correct?) it shows something GUI-like if I press F3 or F4. But only weird coloured parts of a GUI...

I think it's the ATI driver. I read in the MOHAA output that the graphics are 16 bit and I also read that the ATI driver does not support 16 bit, how can I change this (which configuration file?)

Don't you understand the problem? I can't run the game without switching color depth... So there is no way to get to the options...

hi,

check if u can change the color depth in the config file of
your game ....i guess the first time when u try to start the game
it will be create a config file in your home dir

~/.rtcw or something like that

try to find the color depth settings in the config file

to your sound problem... hmmm ...kratz00 should know it.
he told me some "years" ago something like

echo "wolfsp.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

or was it

echo "wolf.x86 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss

check google for the rtcw sound problem ...
