Maybe I should ask developers first, but as herr Kratz :) was so kind to fix some installers for amd64, maybe you can fix free native FPS alien-arena installer? There are more guys also having install problems. From screens looks like it's funny bright game.

Here are instructions for installing AlienArena on Linux x86_64 in absence of the source files.

The installer file was built with invalid paths, whilst a pain, it's curable.

1. Download the bin file from the main site.
2. CD to the directory in which you saved the file
3. Create a new directory (assuming home directory) named alienarena
> mkdir alienarena
4. Extract the files from the installer to the directory "alienarena" (note that the -- is two dashes, not one)
> ./alienarena-2006-x86.run --noexec --keep --target ~/alienarena
5. CD into the alienarena/setup.data/bin/Linux directory.
> cd alienarena/setup.data/bin/Linux
6. Rename the folder "x86_64" to "amd64" (note the case)
> mv x86_64 amd64
7. CD back into the alien arena directory.
> cd ~/alienarena
8. CD into the engine folder.
> cd engine
9. Rename the folder "x86_64" to "amd64" (note the case)
> mv x86_64 amd64
10. CD back into the alien arena directory.
> cd ~/alienarena
11. CD into the bin/Linux folder
> cd bin/Linux
12. Rename the folder "x86_64" to "amd64" (note the case)
> mv x86_64 amd64
13. CD back to the alienarena directory.
> cd ~/alienarena
14. Gain ROOT privilages.
> su
15. Run the setup.sh file
> sh setup.sh
16. Do all that bullnuts
17. run ./usr/local/games/alienarena2006/AlienArena
AND YOU'RE DONE!!!

It's an annoyance I know, and you could always just manually copy the files where they need to be, but this is how I did it, so there you go. If anything ends up missing or what not, you can always just copy the files, because they're all in the extracted directory.

Hopefully this will get more people on 64 systems playing? I don't know, didn't seem too complicated to me, but if you need any help just let me know!

Next step is for them to make a d**n installer without broken links!

i checked their forum

if i got i right it's a problem with amd64 but the installer should work on x86_64, right?

and also this problem was reported in 2005 for the old version

the installer looks ok

also if you have problems with their installer you should report "bugs" in their forum or ask them for help :)
