UT2004 DVD Installer?

Post by flatline » Wed Nov 01, 2006 0:05

Hi,

I just bought a DVD Version of UT2004 guessing it would have a linux installer as well. Doesn't seem so...

here you can find a "ls -lR"
http://85.214.19.126:8080/mbellach/IT/ut2k4dvd.txt/file_view

Will I have to sell that DVD or is there still hope?

Well, we have another error here (in comparison to doom 3 installer):

Code: Select all

You must install Unreal Tournament 2004 before running this installation program.

Almost as funny as a win**** error. Do I have to install this to hd with wine first an then run the installer? Or what does it mean?

As far as I know, the installation via wine is only usefull and necessary, if you planned to use UnrealEd (the Unreal editor) which has not been ported completely (the application itself is not native).
Anyway, the game itself is a native linux application and you don't need wine to play or install it.

That's an easy question: I tried to install UT2004 (DVD Version) with the linux installer found on this very website. I clicked install and got this error in a message box.

this is only a installer for the update, not a installer for the game

the installer should be on the dvd

Oh that explains the problem :D
But that exactly is the problem: There is no linux-installer on the dvd, as you can see in my "ls -lR"...

Maybe you can have a look here (Epic Forum) : http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=558146 .
There's is a guy who details how he has done to do it. I hope you have 10Go left...
Good luck.

Tanks a lot, that helped. It wasn't even as complicated as described. My directory structure seemed to be more original.
