Heavy Metal FAKK 2 doesn't start.

Post by PsychoMan » Sat Mar 01, 2008 16:51

I've installed game without problems with your instaler ( http://liflg.org/?catid=6&gameid=68 ).
But when I want to start the game (by typing 'fakk2'), it says:
/usr/local/bin/fakk2: 29: Syntax error: Bad substitution
This is the line from the file:
echo "${ll/* -> }"
Here is whole file:
http://ifile.it/q8drt0v

I'm using Xubuntu 7.10.
I would be very thankful for help.

in the installation directory there is a fille called fakk2 (or similar, it's shell skript which is used to start the game)
open this file in you favourite editor and change the first line from

#!/bin/sh

to

#!/bin/bash

save and try again, this should be all

Now I have error:
/usr/local/bin/fakk2: line 60: ./fakk2: cannot execute binary file
Line 60:
LD_PRELOAD=$GAME_DIR/libz.so.1.1.4 ./$GAME_BINARY "$CMD_ARGS" "$@"

Ok the script is named fakk2.sh and the binary is named fakk2
make sure that both are executable chmod 755 fakk2 fakk2.sh

If this still does not work, what distri, system specs ...?

This doesn't look, your binary is broken.

So the way to solve the problem is to give up or get another copy of the game?

Exactly but before you should check if your disc is really faulty.
If it's ok it should look like:

Code: Select all

file /mnt/cdrom/bin/x86/glibc-2.1/fakk2
/mnt/cdrom/bin/x86/glibc-2.1/fakk2: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.0.0, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped

It says:

Code: Select all

/media/cdrom0/bin/x86/glibc-2.1/fakk2: data
I think I will find some other game to play :)
