They are completely different, sorry.

If i have more time, maybe I'm going to build an installer for the Anthology version.

That would rock, if you have the time... At the moment people are using shell scripts and complicated build instructions.

This was not a promise :)

I just downloaded and tried out this installer. The installation went GREAT! As a relative Linux noob, it was understandable and pretty straightforward.

My question is though: Double clicking the UT2004 icon in the newly-created UT2004 folder does nothing. Literally nothing. The screen kind of flashed once, but that was the end of it. Also, typing "ut2004" into the terminal gives the "unknown bash command" error.

I'm running Ubuntu 7.10. Any ideas?

Maybe you did not select to install symlinks to the startscript in $PATH

Can you run the game from the installation directory?

navigating to the install directory in the terminal and running the command:

Code: Select all

sh ut2004

(this IS the command I should be running, right?... I'm still learning this stuff), gives the following message:

Code: Select all

./ut2004-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Right and the error you see now, means that you are missing gcc 3.2 compat libs, look for them using the package manager tool of your Linux distri.

Great!
Just in case anyone else comes in here looking for the same answer, in Ubuntu, you go to Synaptic, and search for libstdc++5. That's what you're looking for!

Anyways, it runs totally great, thanks a bunch. Quick question though, kind of off-topic... is there a way to minimize the game? Alt-tab and Win-tab don't work in-game i guess?

You are welcome.

I do not know any key combination to minimize the game, the only one I know is "ALT+Return" to toggle fullscreen.

Hy Kratz00...

You guys really have done a great job with the ut2004 midway installer!!!

Simple as playing back an audio-CD!
Really - thank you for this kind of support...

At first I had to dig free the 6GB to install the game, but it worked 'straigt out of the box', as to say.
You maybe could tweak the progress bars of the installer; it takes so long till something visible happens, that I was in fear the application had crashed at first.

best regards,

wusch

The installer itself is not from us it's from Loki (http://icculus.org/loki_setup/)

We need to run a script and
you see no progress because there is no progress until the script is finished.

Thanks for your compliment :)

Did you try export SETUP_CDROM stuff?

If yes, post the output of 'ls -R' of your mounted cd/dvd

Hi!

I really own the Midway ut2004 DVD and no other kind of ut collection or whatever.
Well, i exported SETUP_CDROM to my mountpint (/media/UT2004) and started the setup, but I still recieve the error "vcdk is missing".
My dist is openSuse 10.3 and my kernel is 2.6.22.17-0.1-default and gcc 4.2.1.

There was no error message in the terminal I started the installer in.

Can someone help me please?

Regards, pktm

Could you try this (assuming you are using the installer for the english version):

sh ut2004_3369-english.midway.dvd-2.run --keep --noexec
cd ut2004_3369-english.midway.dvd-2
mv vcdk-amd64 vcdk-x86_64
sh setup.sh

Let me know if this works or not!
